Okay, you can probably guess who we’re behind today, but we try to be even handed in our funny baby clothing offerings none the less. We’re the ones with the Totally Non-Partisan baby snapsuits, remember? We’re also the people that brought the Fightin’ Democrats and the Rowdy Republican tees to your local Barney’s NY. But, politics aside, I found this very funny (albeit politically themed) update of the classic Budweiser “Wassup” spot. Having an extensive advertising background, I found this to be hilarious on a lot of levels (even comparing it to the original, which it follows almost shot for shot). Take a look, have a laugh and go vote for who you like. True. True.

BEFORE:

AFTER

Wry Baby friend and past partner in advertising crimes, Andrew Tonkin, just reminded me of the Super Friends Wassup spoof that appeared shortly after the original Bud spot aired. Also very hilarity.

Our “Me For President” bib made a guest appearance on Good Morning America last week! That’s the good news. The bad news is this particular funny baby bib is completely sold out at Barneys NY (the origins of our funny baby political clothes) and at wrybaby.com. The worse news? Our entire line of funny baby political clothing will disappear completely after Election Day. And that’s tomorrow, Folks! But chin up! There’s still other funny baby political onesies, bibs and t-shirts available today at wrybaby.com! And they’re on SALE!

This page from our hit baby journal, The New Parents’ Fun Book, is so unintentionally seasonally themed that we couldn’t help but share. The New Parents’ Fun Book baby journal has been really well received and pages like this are the reason. Instead of recording usual the boring line-up of relatives, why not group them by their “stand-out” personalities? Who is the funniest? Who tells the best stories? Who’s been arrested? You know your tree is full of these kinds of nuts!

File this under: Apropos of Nothing.

Growing up in the O.C., doing a stint at The Art Center in Pasadena and finally enjoying a rich advertising career in San Francisco has made me no stranger to the most unpredictable of natural occurrences - earthquakes. Like everyone else in California waiting for “the Big One” to arrive, I learned to live not in constant terror (that would be exhausting!), but instead to laugh about the eventuality of this scary phenomenon. In the early 80’s there was a song by The Little Girls that pretty much sums up the attitude of those living in a place that’s marked for calamity. The Earthquake Song’s pretty dark, but it’s also super clever as all get out and, heck, it’s almost Halloween, right? So scary fits. While earthquakes themselves are terrifyingly un-funny (Wry Baby does not support them), this is a great example of the smiley face that Californians are so good at putting on, well, everything. Enjoy this rare video of The Little Girls performing the Earthquake Song.

You’ve got a new baby, therefore I know you have plenty of free time for complicated Halloween papercraft projects. Don’t thank me. I’ve also got some easy squeezy Halloweeny origami for you less dextrous, more harried Moms and Dads.

Papercraft Coffins courtesy of ravensblight.com. These look deceptively difficult because the graphics are so flippin’ outstanding. But we printed these out and built them no problem. And unlike the Revell model kits of our youth, these come out looking like advertised! Super fun for Halloween party favors and it’s FREE!

Halloweeny Origami from origami-club.com. For littler Halloweeners, and those suffering from an Elmers shortage, we offer this simpler craft. There are way more designs than I thought there would be and I was surprised at how many I remembered from my own childhood (the paper bat in particular). Super fun, super easy and super free. (Found via coochicoos.com)

Just a reminder that, for those fun parents on the East Coast, there’s still time to scoop up our comfy “Official Candy Taster” Halloween Outfit over at wrybaby.com. Not as free as the papercraft above, but close enough at just $14!

This week will be routine until Friday. You and your baby will be visited by all sorts of howling specters, demented ghouls, and angry demons. Do whatever they ask of you! They will eventually vanish, leaving you to prepare for the many Trick or Treaters who will descend on your house once sun sets.
