While we’re all awaiting Mysterio’s tale of high-sea adventure over the Holiday break, I just found out that our own baby t-shirt-making partner has been up to some adventure in bloody ole England, as well! Apparently Mysterio’s US popularity made him a must-have baby gift for the Brits! Checking out the UK web store, Firebox.com, it looks like Mysterio’s predicted some very anglocentric futures for every British basin o’ gravy.

Why are the British Mysterio baby tees blue and pink? A spokesperson for Mysterio explained that the Brits don’t have baby showers like we Yanks. The baby shower is thrown AFTER the baby’s born. So, the sex of the baby is known and gifters can gift accordingly. A bit Easter Bunny, but it’s true!

After so long making funny baby clothes, accessories, games for new parents, books for baby showers and all sorts of baby shower gifts, you tend to get a lot of production stuff piling up. Factory samples, ideas that were put on back burners never to return to the front burners again, sizing samples, printing samples, close-out stuff we’re too lazy or too sentimental to actually fully close-out and all kinds of funny shower gift knick-knacks. Being it’s almost Turkey Day, I thought we’d pay tribute to our Tryptophan loaded friends.

Ahhh, the famous WKRP Turkey Drop bit. For those too young to know, WKRP decides on an ill advised Thanksgiving promotion. Classic.

First we launch a new line of 100% super organic baby clothes and now we’re getting all stoner for Barneys NY? I’m having our water tested ASAP. Actually, we’re totally stoked to announce that we’re a part of Barneys’ HAVE A HIPPIE HOLIDAY fun-fest. Awww. When Cost Plus World Market asked us to give the boring old hooded towel the Wry Baby treatment, the first place we went was Pirates. But Princesses were a close second! And the funnest part about doing the Princess Towel for World Market was creating a Bath Time Fairy Tale fit for a smelly, yet-to-be-bathed tot of royal blood. ONCE UPON A BATH TIME…

THERE WAS ONCE A LITTLE PRINCESS who was under the curse of a terrible Sea Dragon. The bad Dragon had made her so stinky and smelly, that not one of her  subjects would play with her. This made the Princess sad. Very smelly, and very sad.

Her father, the King, had an idea. He would give the Princess a nice, long warm bath. Perhaps that would lift the curse! They scrubbed and scrubbed until finally the Princess smelled like a field of pretty flowers!

The bad Dragon took one whiff of the little Princess and sneezed so hard (for most Dragons are allergic to flowers, you know) that he was blown far, far away. And the Princess lived cleanly ever after. THE END.

If you’re going to do something, do it right. This seems like a no-brainer, but with all the hype around our planets grim environmental situation and the trend of going green, organic and eco-friendly, there’s a lot of people taking advantage of the situation by fuzzing the line between what’s organic and what’s not. I know, SURPRISE!, right? Did you know that a lot of what’s labeled as “organic” baby clothes out there is made with as little as 5% organic cotton? And to add insult ot injury it’s also printed with a plasitc based ink. Grody.

Long ago Kelly and I considered a jump into the organic baby realm. There was a soft rumbling of demand and when we looked into the manufacturing of organics, we found that prices were through the ozone-hole high! The only way to create a line of organic baby clothes was to cut corners in a big way and use an organic cotton blend. A very diluted cotton blend. We didn’t think there was any sense in doing that so we waited. And waited. And while prices surprisingly haven’t come down much, they came down enough that we could take a leap of faith (in our stores and our fans) and do the kind of organic baby clothes line that we always wanted to do. One that was, for lack of a better term, real.

Our international network of offices, laboratories and accredited agents enables us to offer a complete package in logistics, quality and quantity management from the country of origin to the final destination.” Which is a fancy way of saying they’re hard core when it comes to authenticating organics.
