I recently visited my parents out in Oregon, and found a little keepsake that proves our grandparent’s generation knew how to cute-it-up. My parents have a bit of a pack-rat syndrome, but in this case, that proved to be a great thing. Inside a drawer filled with the likes of my Juice Newton backstage pass, some of my old teeth (kind of disgusting) and some very embarrassing (big hair) prom photos, I found my grandmother’s little brag book. It was filled with great old pics of their road trip out to see us the summer I was born. On the cover and title page it says, S.O.G. with P.I.P. , which stands for “Silly Old Grandma with Pictures in Purse. ”

I love how they had to explain it, because maybe the phrase hadn’t caught on yet? But it must have been big, no? If not, I’m bringing it back! SOG with PIP. Catchy. It’s always nice to look back. Thanks for being a pack-rat mom! Now throw out that old 1980′s boom box in the garage before it fossilizes!
