Target Plays The Bully By Stealing Wry Baby’s “Someday I’ll Demand a Pony” AND “Photo With Baby” Designs

Kelly and I were in Target last week and we discovered that Target totally stole our Someday I’ll Demand A Pony outfit design AND our Photo With Baby Sanpsuit! And what’s worse, they look terrible! Wait. Maybe I should feel good about that. What’s with the camera illustration? Cheap! They’ve released our designs under their private label called “Look Who’s Talking”. Wry Baby’s been selling the Someday I’ll Demand A Pony outfit and the Photo With Baby Sanpsuit for a couple of years and Someday I’ll Demand A Pony’s been a perennial best-seller at www.wrybaby.com. We always wondered when we’d get lifted by Target and now we have. I guess we’ve arrived?

Everyone knows that places like Target can rip off little guys like us at Wry Baby because there’s nothing we can do about it. But you can. Please support us little guys by buying your fun baby gifts at Wry Baby instead of the knock-offs at Target. Kelly and I thank you!

    Hi!
Just wondering if you’ve tried sending a Cease and Desist letter to the people at Target’s Look Who’s Talking line? Although you probably won’t see any of the big bucks they probably made off your designs a firmly worded C&D letter usually works wonders in these scenarios.
Just thought I’d share. Love your work

Hey Josh! Our legal council recommended that, but I wanted to try a different route. I’d heard many stories of Target trying styles on their own and, if it worked, teaming with the companies they ripped to do it right for a larger mark-up (for them, of course). The Look Who’s Talking Brand is dirt cheap and the quality is same. They were selling for $4 each or something ridiculous like that. I’m still trying and since then they stopped selling those styles of ours. Go figure. But in the meantime, they picked up our holiday greeting card line from NobleWorks, so Wry Baby is making some headway I guess. Thanks so much for the tip!
